The childhood dream of the richest man in the world is about to come true.

The 57-year-old billionaire announced in an Instagram post that he would take his brother Mark on the space trip. Blue Origin's first passenger space mission will depart on July 20, two weeks after Jeff Bezos stepped down as Amazon's chief executive.

"I have been dreaming of space travel since I was 5 years old. On July 20, I will travel with my brother, a great adventure with my best friend," Jeff Bezos said in the post. Blue Origin is one of the few major space companies working on space exploration projects. One of them is Elon Musk's SpaceX, while Richard Branson's Virgin Galatic Holding wants to get people off the ground.

The New Shepherd Rocket will be used by Blair Origin for the July 20 flight, which will travel 11 minutes and reach an altitude of 100 km. The company will also send people on a four-day space trip in the near future, for which people will also receive three days of training.
